Morgan Freeman will star alongside Michael Douglas and Robert De Niro in “Last Vegas,” CBS Films and Good Universe announced Thursday.

The movie is described as the story of four aging pals who head to the casino hotspot for a bachelor party for the last single person in their group. Hmm, could this be a hybrid of “The Hangover” and “Wild Hogs”? Just asking.

Steve Quale, on set as the director of last year’s Final Destination 5

Ever since “Oz the Great and Powerful” completed shooting in late 2011, the stages at Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac have been looking for their next projects.

But now a thriller about a massive storm — a fitting enough for Michigan Motion Picture Studios stages and 170,000 square feet of space in 7 sound stages — is coming to the state-of-the-art facility.

The movie “Category 6” is set to film at Michigan Motion Picture Studios this summer. The New Line Cinema project has applied for $12 million in Michigan film incentives on an estimated $40.7 million of spending in the state.

“Category 6” is described by Variety as a found-footage movie involving high school students who use cell phones and other portable cameras to record a devastating hurricane. It will be directed by Steven Quale, who was second-unit director on “Avatar.”

Given his past involvement in 3D, there’s a chance Category 6 will also be shot in in that format, bringing additional high technology to Michigan.

Though a “Category 6″ storm doesn’t technically exist, as the scale storms are measured on only go to Category 5. Michigan has been a perfect storm and not the storm to end all stormes will be filmed here in Michigan!
